Lake Caldonazzo in the Valsugana is only a few kilometres away from the popular Lake Levico. With a surface of 5,4 sq km, it is the largest lake in Trentino, as only a small part of Lake Garda, which stretches from Lombardy to Veneto, is actually located in Trentino. Lake Caldonazzo has a depth of 16.5 m and thanks to the mild climate and favourable weather conditions, bathing is possible from May to the end of September, as its water temperature is usually between 18°C and 24°C, making it one of the warmest lakes in Europe. On the lake's shores there are numerous free beaches and well-equipped beach resorts. This body of water is surrounded by the localities of Caldonazzo, Calceranica al Lago and Tenna.

Lake Caldonazzo is a true natural gym and a paradise for sport lovers who can practise a multitude of different sports, such as sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, rowing and underwater sports. It is the only lake of the whole region where it is possible to try out waterskiing. In summer it often hosts sports events with national and international athletes. Passionate fishers can find a huge variety of fish, such as trouts, rudd, carps, pumpkinseeds and tenches.

San Cristoforo features the "Bau Beach", a beach for our four-legged friends. A leash is mandatory both inside and outside the water.

In 2024, Lake Caldonazzo has been awarded the prestigious Bandiera Blu eco-label, which is given for excellent water quality, environmental protection and sustainable services.
